National Student Survey Celebration Event 2016

A celebration event took place in October to mark the achievements made in this year's National Student Survey. For the fifth consecutive year NTU's overall satisfaction score increased and is now at 89%, putting us 3% above the sector average. The improved score sees NTU at joint 34th out of 157 institutions on the league table. We have increased on nine of the 22 questions and are above the higher education institutions (HEI) average on 20 out of 22 questions.

Of those who responded to the survey, 93% would recommend NTU to others.

It is good to see that the biggest improvements at NTU have been in areas which we have really focused on as we know they are crucial to students' learning, namely:

"Feedback on my work has helped me clarify things I did not understand."
This has increased by 3% to 76% (now 8% above the HEI average).

"I have received detailed comments on my work."
This has increased by 2% to 79% (now 7% above the HEI average).

"Good advice was available when I needed to make study choices."
This has increased by 2% to 83% (now 5% above the HEI average).

Looking at our results by School, students within the School of Animal, Rural and Environmental Sciences are most satisfied, with a 96% satisfaction rating and a 2% increase on last year.

Four of our Schools are at 90% satisfaction or above. Nottingham Business School also saw a big 4% increase in satisfaction this year to 89%. 77 courses got 90% satisfaction or above, 28 of which had 100% satisfaction.

Ten of the courses which got 100% satisfaction this year, also achieved 100% in 2015, which is a great achievement. They were:

Nottingham Trent University is now ranked first in the country with 100% satisfaction in Finance, and is in the top five for Initial Teacher Training, Economics, and Sociology.

The University's STEM subjects also performed well above the sector average, with 100% satisfaction in Microbiology, putting the University in first place nationally, and 96% satisfaction in both Biology and Chemistry earning top-ten positions. Courses within the School Architecture and Built Environment also gained top-three places with strong scores of 97% and 95% respectively.

Staff from these course teams attended this event which recognised the commitment and dedication of all involved.
