Open Dome Event – Europe's Mission to Mars – Mars

Date: Friday 26 February 2016
Time: 8 pm - 10 pm
Location: CELS, Nottingham Trent University, NG11 8NS
Visitors with telescopes

Mars has always been seen as a planet possibly teeming with life. Through recent missions, including the Opportunity rover, we have shown that there are no little green men – but we have found clear evidence of water on Mars in the past and present.

Dr. D Brown (NTU) will talk about Europe's own rover mission to Mars, ExoMars, which is blasting off during March and will arrive by 2018. This mission will search for past signs of life under the surface of Mars by drilling two metres down and using a specifically designed laboratory. This talk will be followed by a brief introduction to what is visible in this month's sky.

Booking is required for this event. While attending, you consent to filming, photography, and sound recording – which may include you as a member of the audience – and its use in publication or advertising distribution, either printed or online, without payment or copyright.
