NTU men's hockey team won on penalty flicks after their game finished 2-2

The 2012 Varsity series remained all square on Friday as NTU and the University of Nottingham (UoN) men's and women's hockey served up a superb day of entertainment. NTU women went down 4-1, but men's hockey leveled matters with a win on penalty flicks after their game finished 2-2, leaving the series evenly poised 3-3.

Women's hockey got proceedings underway at Beeston Hockey club and it looked to be a daunting prospect as they faced a UoN team sitting high in the premiership. UoN began with a high tempo, not allowing NTU to get out of their own half. NTU keeper Alex Wadeson was the busier of the two keepers and had to be alert to save UoN attacks on the goal from early in the game.
