Go global and gain international experience while at NTU
The option to study abroad is available to all School of Arts and Humanities undergraduate students during Year Two. You can choose to spend a semester or a year (the year abroad option is for Modern Language students only) overseas as part of your degree. This really is a once in a lifetime opportunity, you’ll make some great friends, experience a different culture, and add some real value to your CV.
International Exchange Semester
Our International Exchange Semester provides full-time students with the opportunity to spend a semester studying at one of our exchange partner universities. You'll study in English, earn credits toward your degree, experience another culture, and, at the same time, gain key skills valued by employers within a global economy.
Students taking our BA (Hons) language courses as part of the joint honours programme can spend a year at one of our Year Abroad partners or spend time on work placement. The Year Abroad programme allows you to increase your foreign language fluency and understanding of other cultures, and is recognised by a Placement Diploma in Language Study Abroad. You'll come away with an experience that will give you a real advantage when competing for the best jobs.
Fees and funding
Students at our partners in Europe, on either the International Exchange Semester or Year Abroad, are eligible to apply for an Erasmus+ grant to assist with the additional expenditure incurred through living abroad. Find out more about our funding opportunities.
If you would prefer to remain in the UK for your degree but would still like to gain some international experience, you might be interested in our International Volunteering Opportunities, many of which take place during the summer months. We will also support you in identifying , either in the UK or abroad, that can help you diversify and internationalise your skills and experience.
