Need something we don't have?

If we don't have what you need, here's what we can do to help

Books

If you want a book to support your academic studies, then use our Get My Book service. This will provide you with electronic or print books where they are not already available within our libraries. We undertake to provide a copy for you within three working days. To make a request:

  • Check Library OneSearch to make sure we don't already have it in stock.
  • Go to the Get My Book request form.
  • Login using your NTU username and password.
  • Give us the details.
  • We'll do the rest!

Journal articles

If you need a journal article, then we also have a Get My Journal Article service. You can request a journal article to be delivered to your desktop or to your preferred postal address.

Most journal articles will come from the British Library. If you opt for electronic delivery, you will have to register with British Library on Demand before you are able to access your documents. You can do this at any time, and you may find it helpful to register before you receive your first document. There is a library guide to registration here.

NB: This is a new service. Even if you have used the British Library's electronic document delivery service in the past, you will now have to register with BLOD to continue receiving documents. See more about the changes to online delivery on the library webpages.

We advise both new and existing users to read this library guide PDF icon , which gives helpful information about registering with the British Library and accessing their electronic documents.

To make a request for a journal article:

  • Login using your NTU username and password.
  • Give us the details.
  • We'll do the rest!

Processing your request

We will get it to you as quickly as possible. It might be an electronic or print copy. You may have to return it to us within a specific time period, or it may be yours to keep. Returnable items will be issued to your Library account, but we'll do our best to give you plenty of time to use it. You can always ask for a renewal.

We will always keep you informed about the progress of your request, and you can also check yourself by going to My Account in Library OneSearch and clicking 'Requests'. If you have any questions or queries, then please contact us via email or phone us on +44 (0)115 848 2889.

We hope you find this service useful and easy to use, and we welcome your feedback – good or bad!
