Human Resource Management

View our range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Nottingham Business School is a Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) Approved Centre.

The aims of the Human Resources Management (HRM) Department are threefold:

  • promote research of an international quality in the three broad areas of organisation studies, employment studies and (international) human resource management
  • deliver research-led teaching of an outstanding quality
  • provide a supportive environment for the development of academic researchers and educators.

The Department teaches organisational studies and HRM at undergraduate, postgraduate and professional levels. In particular, we are a provider of Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) approved courses, both at home and bespoke courses overseas for corporate clients such as BP in Azerbaijan, and PwC in Prague and Moscow. Beyond that we offer our own Masters degree in Human Resource Management.

At undergraduate level we offer a range of modules at each level of the degree courses, but within the Business Management Joint Honours suite of courses, we offer a dedicated HRM route – BA (Hons) Business Management and Human Resources. In addition, the Department makes a significant contribution to the management and delivery of a well established professional doctorate programme (DBA), and we supervise a number of PhD students, both full-time and part-time.

The HRM section comprises more than 20 research engaged staff who contribute to the following NBS research groups:

  • Organising as Practice
  • Public Management and Governance
  • International and Development Economics
