Chris Evans, Managing Director, IBM

Chris Evans is currently IBM Managing Director for the Unilever Integrated Account. This is one of IBM's most complex and global accounts drawing on revenue streams across the full width of IBM's product and services portfolio in more than 50 countries worldwide. He is also a member of IBM UK's Senior Leadership and is also actively engaged in many IBM cross company projects that will help deliver the three year transformation programme.
Prior to his appointment as Managing Director for Unilever IA, Chris was Vice President of IBM's Retail Industry, working with the UK's leading retailers to bring IBM's extensive capability to market around the challenges they faced in today's difficult trading climate. IBM's segmentation into discrete industry segments such as Retail, Banking or, local Government earlier this year was part of IBM UK's Transformation programme
Prior to the Retail Industry Leadership role Chris Evans was Vice President, Financial Services Sector responsible for all of IBM's financial services business in the United Kingdom, Ireland, and South Africa. His responsibilities included relationship management, solutions development, sales & marketing and consulting & services strategy for IBM clients based in the banking, financial markets and insurance industries, a £1.6BN business for IBM.
Between May 2004 and August 2006 Chris Evans was Director of IBM’s Distribution Sector, responsible for all of IBM's business activities associated with retail, consumer products, travel and transport in the UK, Ireland and South Africa. His responsibilities included the top ten largest UK retailers such as Boots Plc, M&S Plc, Arcadia and Tesco Plc, some of the world's largest consumer products companies including Unilever and Kraft in addition to major famous travel and transport brands such as British Airways and Virgin Airways.
Chris Evans is a member of IBM's world-wide Client Executive Board which has responsibility for the Professional Accreditation and Development of employees within the corporation. He is also a member of both the Specialist Sales and Client Executive professions within IBM.
In 1989, Chris Evans joined IBM and since then has held many sales/sales management positions, many of which were associated with the distribution sector in various guises included Cluster Unit Executive for Retail South and Cluster Unit Director for Retail North. He also spent time working with the Health Service on information projects as well as a period working with the I Series Brand on innovative application technologies.
Prior to commencing his career with IBM, Chris Evans graduated as a qualified Aeronautical Design Engineer sponsored by British Aerospace. His early career saw a transition from aircraft design to the commercial, contractual and financial aspects of selling civil aircraft around the world. Immediately prior to joining IBM, he was working for Rolls-Royce Plc engaged in licensing and collaborative technology projects in Brazil, Romania and Italy.
Chris Evans is married and has two children. His interests include adventure sports, motor cycling and travel (often combined!). In addition, having both children involved in the Scouting movement has led him to working with the Nottinghamshire Scouts as part of IBM's On Demand Community Programme. Chris Evans is an Executive Sponsor of IBM's Ethnic Diversity Group.
