Transformation and Change in the Media and Charity Sectors
Date: Thursday 10 December 2015
The media landscape has fundamentally changed. Falling newspaper and advertising sales has led media groups to look at digital reach, influence and revenue. In the charity sector, public donations are falling, the traditional telephone call centres are being replaced by online, mobile and social networks. This lecture explained how media and charity are adapting to be fit for the future.
Derek Gannon is the Chief Operating Officer at Comic Relief where he is overseeing an organisational review and transforming the organisation to be fit for the future by bringing in new digitally-focused skill sets.
Derek has 15 years' experience in agenda setting global brands and digital start-ups and has an outstanding record of driving and delivering major strategic initiatives, transformational change, digital transformation, large scale technology, cost management and international projects in three of the UK's leading media and charity brands - Guardian News and Media, Pearson PLC and Comic Relief.
He is the former Chair of the Diana Award, Vice-Chair of Gingerbread, a non-exec Director for Rewired State, and a member of Nottingham Trent University's Development Board.
