Computing and Technology comprises 35 full time academic staff. We are a highly collaborative department who work closely to ensure that all of our students are inspired and supported to reach their full potential. We are ambitious for our students and will always go the extra mile to help them gain the best skills and the best opportunities.
Our staff expertise covers a wide range of specialisms, including;
- software engineering
- security and digital forensics
- multimedia and interaction design
- web and game development.
Not only are virtually all of our staff educated to PhD level, but many have first-hand industrial experience and continue to be active in research and/or consultancy. This enables us to offer modules that are both inspiring, with advanced and state-of-the art techniques and technology, and also practically focused to be relevant in the world of commerce and industry.
Much of our research is internationally recognised, particularly in the areas of Games for Learning and in Security. For example, Prof David Brown leads several projects, funded by the European Union, in games and assistive technology while Prof Paul Evans' innovative developments in security are supported by USA Dept of Homeland Security.
Together with our students we enjoy the excellent support of a team of four highly skilled technicians, who are dedicated to Computing and Technology.
All of the above combined with our excellent facilities and equipment mean that we are a thriving department offering an excellent environment for learning and development.
