The School has received accreditations from a range of professional bodies that recognise the quality of our teaching and research. Students can directly benefit from associate membership to professional institutes upon graduation.
Students who complete these courses are eligible to apply for registration with the Health Professions Council after undergoing a period of training in an IBMS accredited laboratory.
The Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management has accredited the Ecology and Environmental Management pathway on our BSc (Hons) Biological Sciences course.
The MChem (Hons) Chemistry course is accredited by the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) This allows you to apply for Chartered Chemistry designation (CChem) after a period of postgraduate experience.
Our BSc (Hons) courses are recognised by the RSC allowing graduates to become Associate Members. We also offers the Eurobachelor qualification to graduates studying BSc (Hons) Chemistry.
All undergraduate Forensic courses are accredited by The Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences. The chemistry components for these degrees have also been recognised by the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC).
Both our BSc (Hons) Mathematics and BSc (Hons) Financial Mathematics courses are accredited by the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications. Graduates from these courses can go on to achieve Chartered Mathematician status with subsequent training and experience.
Computing and Technology
The British Computer Society (BCS) - the Chartered Institute for IT, have accredited all of our undergraduate computing degrees to Chartered IT Professional status (CITP) level and also accredited BSc (Hons) Computer Science, BSc (Hons) Computer Science (Games Technology), BSc (Hons) Software Engineering and BSc (Hons) Computer Systems Engineering to the higher CEng level.
All undergraduate Physics courses are accredited by the Institute of Physics.
Our teaching staff include British Association of Sport and Exercise Science (BASES) accredited physiologists and sports psychologists. BASES are the professional body leading excellence in sport and exercise sciences through evidence-based practice.
Our Environmental Chamber facility has been approved by the British Olympic Association and has been used as an acclimatisation training facility by the British Olympic team.
