Our Assessment Centre was established in 2003 and can be found in the Student Centre on the Clifton Campus. The Centre is accredited, quality-assured and approved by the Disabled Students' Allowances – Quality Assurance Group (DSA-QAG).
The Needs Assessment Centre provides for students eligible for the Disabled Students Allowances (DSA's). We provide assessments for students attending any HE institution on a recognised course. We have a team of specialist assessors and offer DSA Assessments to students who have:
- sensory impairment
- physical impairment
- autistic spectrum condition
- long-term or unseen medical condition
- mental health difficulties
- specific learning difficulties.
If you have applied for DSA and have been told to arrange a DSA study needs assessment, please contact us to arrange an appointment. If your funding body requires you to book a needs assessment, please contact us or search for another local centre.
The assessment centre is open Monday to Friday between 9 am and 4 pm throughout the year (except bank holidays and university closure days). There is a voice mail message system in operation out of hours.
We charge a single assessment fee of £550. This is charged to your DSA, you do not need to pay this yourself. It will cover all assessment updates that may be required for the duration of your course. Postgraduate and PGCE students may be eligible for formal review of their needs, funded through the post-graduate DSA or maybe from you applying for the first time.
