Proud to be The Times and Sunday Times Modern University of the Year

We're celebrating again as we've been named The Times and Sunday Times Modern University of the Year!

The award recognises NTU for our strong student satisfaction, our quality of teaching, the overall student experience and our engagement with employers.

We have also achieved our highest ever position (47th) in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide league table, placing us in the top three of over 70 universities created since 1992.

Some key highlights from the league table include:

  • a rise of ten places on last year
  • exceptional levels of student satisfaction, particularly with teaching quality, place us at 8th in the country - the highest in the region
  • we’re now 12th in the country for student experience
  • more than three-quarters of our students gain professional jobs or go into further study on graduation.

Professor Edward Peck, Vice-Chancellor of NTU, said: "We are very proud to have been awarded the title of Modern University of the Year in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2018.

"It is very pleasing that this authoritative guide recognises our strong student satisfaction. It is a fantastic start to our new academic year as we begin welcoming our new students to NTU."

The award reflects our commitment to providing an outstanding student experience for everyone who studies with us, the quality of our teaching, work experience options on every course, and our excellent graduate employment record.

Best wishes at the start of this new academic year.

Professor Eunice Simmons, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, and Jelena Matic, Vice President Education, Nottingham Trent Students' Union

NTU’s other recent accolades

This announcement finishes off an excellent year of success for NTU, coming just two weeks after the university was shortlisted for the prestigious ‘University of the Year’ title in the forthcoming Times Higher Education Awards.

NTU also achieved ‘gold’ rating in the Government’s Teaching Excellence Framework, and a satisfaction score of 89% in the National Student Survey - the fifth highest score amongst mainstream universities.

In May it was also announced that the University had climbed 19 places to 34th place in The Guardian University Guide 2018 – one of the biggest climbs made by a university.
