Dr Dmitry Volodkin teaches on the module Physical Properties of Solid State and Nano-Composite Materials. He leads research in the active bio-coating lab.
A number of awards and prizes have been received, including the Richard Zsigmondy Prize from the German Colloid Society (2014), the Sofja Kovalevskaja Award (2010), and the Award of the President of Russia for Excellent Studies (2003).
The research in the active bio-coating group focuses on advanced functional biomaterials for biological applications in tissue engineering, diagnostics, toxicology and drug delivery, as well as for fundamental understanding of key chemical and biological questions. We design self-assembled polymer and hybrid 2D and 3D structures with tailor-made properties and stimuli-sensitive behaviour.
