We pride ourselves on our dynamic and personal Law School community, creating many fantastic opportunities for our students.
Through our in-house teaching law firm – NLS Legal – there are plenty of opportunities to gain a real world perspective. Students spanning all years and courses could support with the running of our regulated law firm, and work on real cases under the supervision of experienced lawyers. NLS Legal's innovative model and positive impact on our students and the community was celebrated at the national LexisNexis Legal Awards, where the firm was crowned Law Firm of the Year 2022.
Other school community activities include mooting, volunteering, work experience, overseas placements, summer schools, guest lectures, careers skills workshops, professional and networking lunches, prize giving ceremonies and much more.
Our courses are accredited or approved by a range of professional bodies, including the Solicitors Regulation Authority, Bar Standards Board, Intellectual Property Regulation Board and Chartered Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys, and our extensive links with the legal and other professions both at home and overseas, reflect and inform the design of our course portfolio and ensure that we continue to lead the way in legal education.

Support Through Court
Nottingham Law School is now hosting Support Through Courts's (STC) Nottingham Service and STC's new National Online Service will launch in the next few months. Both services will be based within the Chaucer Building, providing excellent on-campus opportunities for legal work experience for Nottingham Law School students.
Mooting
The simplest way to describe a 'moot' or 'mooting' is the oral presentation of a legal issue or problem. By taking part in mooting, students practise their public speaking and it is perhaps the closest experience to appearing in court that you can have while at university.
Courtrooms
Our courts are a great way to prepare yourself for a career in legal services – there's no better practice. Through mock trials and mooting, you’ll develop your presentation and research skills, building confidence as you go.
