If you are studying for a full-time undergraduate degree you will be actively encouraged to take a 12-month work placement between the second and third year of study. We offer work placements in the following subject areas:

  • Biosciences
  • Chemistry
  • Computing
  • Forensic Science
  • Mathematics
  • Physics
  • Sports Science

Taking a work placement demonstrates your ambition and can really make your CV shine. More importantly, it gives you a competitive advantage in the graduate jobs market.

Diploma in Professional Practice
Successful completion of your work placement can lead to an additional qualification of the Diploma in Professional Practice. In order to gain this award, you will need to write a placement diary and report, and, at the end of your placement, prepare and deliver a presentation to course staff.

Computing students also have the opportunity to undertake an e-skills internship - an industry-backed student placement programme designed to boost the employability of graduates. Find out more at e-skills.
