Members of the Department of Social Work and Health are engaged in influential research, placing them at the leading edge in fields of enquiry which meet the needs of society, enrich quality of life and have a positive economic impact.

In the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF) a large proportion of the research outputs submitted by NTU's social work and social policy (U0A22) Unit of Assessment were judged to be of a quality that is recognised nationally or internationally. The Assessment also highlighted that an impressive 60% of the research submitted was either internationally excellent or world-leading in terms of its impact.
