Beyond the course
There's more to life than studying!
Broaden your experience, stand out from the crowd and gain a range of skills that employers are looking for.
Succeed with Social Sciences
We offer all of our undergraduate and postgraduate students specialist guidance on planning their future career, further study and international opportunities through our Succeed with Social Sciences programme of events and activities. Opportunities currently include employability mentoring, career focussed events throughout the year and one-to-one careers advice from our Careers Consultant.
Acceler8 employability award
Gain formal recognition for your achievements outside of your studies with our new Acceler8 employability award. This award will improve your employability prospects and act as a record of the experiences you gain at NTU.
Join a Society
There's over 60 societies available for you to join including a lively Politics Society who have organised talks from local MP's and numerous trips including a visit to Brussels to see the European Parliament. There's also a Criminology and Forensic society and if you cant find one that interests you, you can start your own!
If you choose to study on one of our Politics or International Relations undergraduate courses you may have the opportunity to spend half of your second year studying abroad as part of the Erasmus+ foreign exchange scheme. Psychology students may have the chance to study abroad for a year. Our Criminology and Sociology students may also have the opportunity to study abroad.
Hear directly from experts at our guest lectures
Renowned experts and professionals in related fields are regularly invited to come and talk to you, providing an insight into their specialist knowledge and experiences. In the past year students have heard guest lectures on a variety of topics ranging from hate crime and human trafficking to memory and cognition.
Boost your prospects by learning a new language
Learning another language can increase your employability in today's global market. NTU's Language Programme allows you to learn a language in addition to studying your course.
