Research
Our research agenda focuses on the understanding of the human intelligence involved in the design processes of our environment and products and the role advanced digital and media technologies can play in order to support the design of more economically viable and more sustainable products that simultaneously meet the user expectations. The research themes are detailed below.
Digital representation and visualisation
We explore new emerging digital and media technologies with the aim to provide better tools and systems for the representation, communication and visualization of information in Art and Design. This includes:
- Digital animation and films
- Virtual reconstruction of historical artefacts and events
Performance-based design
This research theme focuses on the emerging approach to design in which performance is a guiding design principle and includes:
- Generative design
- Monitoring
Theory and methods in digital art and design
This research area investigates emergent methodologies and processes and includes:
- Fabrication methodologies
- Integrated Design and Building Information Modelling
- Historical Information Modelling
- Collaborative Design
