Head of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
Responsibilities:Claire manages the EDI team and has overall responsibility for the strategic direction of the EDI function and agenda.
Previous experience: Claire has over 20 years’ experience within the field of EDI within both Higher and Further Education, working in partnership with staff and students across a range of specialist areas to deliver strategic agendas for inclusion; this has included Athena SWAN, the Race Equality Charter Mark and provision of reasonable adjustments within the curriculum and workplace, institutional policy design, implementation and practice.

Senior Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Officer
Responsibilities: Susanna is responsible for leading a range of initiatives and services to deliver the EDI agenda at NTU, including: equality-related advice and guidance; Equality Analysis; the Respect at NTU agenda; and dispute resolution services.
Previous experience: Susanna has over 15 years’ experience in the equality and diversity field, gained across both public and private sector organisations. She has supported delivery of government employability contracts for disabled and disadvantaged people, and has worked for Nottinghamshire Police, implementing National Occupational Standards for diversity, coaching diversity champions and facilitating police engagement with diverse community groups. Susanna is an accredited Workplace Mediator and is a qualified Learning and Development professional.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Officer (Athena SWAN)
Responsibilities: Sarah’s role involves supporting the Athena SWAN project, coordinating the activities in the project plan and collating, analysing and presenting datasets required for the Athena SWAN self-assessment and final submission. Sarah also supports the wider work of the EDI team in a range of coordination activities and data analysis.
Previous experience: Sarah’s previous role was with NTU Student Support Services, working closely with the Mental Health and Disability Support teams and also holding responsibilities for data analysis, data management, process improvement, and systems development. She has experience of working on a wide range of initiatives aimed at supporting various under-represented groups.

EDI Learning and Development Adviser
Responsibilities: Lou works part time and is responsible for developing and delivering the mandatory EDI training programme; raising staff/student awareness of equality, diversity and dignity issues through campaigns, events and learning opportunities; and increasing the engagement of staff equality groups in the life and work of NTU.
Previous experience: Lou spent eight years coordinating projects relating to student access and inclusion in higher education, also training staff in issues relating to the inclusion and progression of students from under-represented groups. Areas of work included mature students, care leavers, disability, mental health, autism and gender identity. She has also worked in the third sector creating and managing local, regional and national volunteer programmes in the fields of housing advice, money education, refugee awareness and birth trauma. Lou is an accredited Workplace Mediator and a qualified Learning and Development professional.
