We are constantly striving to redevelop of all our libraries to ensure you have state-of-the-art facilities.

  • We've increased the number of study spaces by 20% and the number of PCs by 15%.
  • Every study space has excellent Wi-Fi coverage and many have PCs.
  • We've increased the amount of group study space.
  • To achieve the highest green credentials we've used the latest technologies for heating, lighting and other building controls.
  • We worked with students and the Students' Union to ensure we were creating libraries with students' needs at heart.

These improvements, combined with the award-winning customer service, provide what we hope is a sector leading library experience.

Boots Library - City Campus

The library is located in a modern, purpose-designed building and has an extensive range of facilities and resources, including more than 300 computers.

This summer we’ve refurbished levels 1 and 2 with plans to refurbish levels 3 and 4 in summer 2018. There’s also additional study spaces, more seating options, and more plug sockets for the use of personal devices.

One of the more unique aspects of Boots library is the beautiful roof top garden. With space for around 50 people, the garden offers a tranquil, natural environment for studying and relaxing in the heart of our City Campus. There is a variety of seating, excellent Wi-Fi coverage and planted areas specially selected to attract wildlife – all designed in conjunction with Landscape Design students from Brackenhurst Campus.

Overall there are a huge range of facilities and resources here, as well as award-winning customer service and a diverse range of study spaces. And we’re open 24 hours during term-time.

Brackenhurst Library

This library has longer opening during term-time and plenty of soft seating, plus a social space. There are now 297 study spaces, including 98 PCs and 30 new laptops available for 24 hour loan. There’s also three bookable group study rooms, a bookable consultation space and two silent study rooms.

A brand new Student Service Centre is located within the library, available for all students who may need support during their time at NTU. You’ll find opening times on the Student Support webpages.

The library is built to the highest green standards, and heated by a new biomass boiler which is partly fuelled by waste from around the Campus. And, all the materials were sourced from environmentally ethical suppliers.

Clifton Library

Work has reached completion on the creation of a stunning new entrance for Clifton Library. The redevelopment sees the culmination of two years of refurbishment works which have transformed the library into a bright and spacious place, putting us at the very heart of the campus.

We’ve made key changes to the internal layout to enhance library services - relocation of the Information Desk to entrance ensures that you get a warm welcome on arrival and help is always on hand. There is now a more diverse range of study spaces - more bookable group study rooms, additional silent study spaces and open access group study furniture. We've significantly increased the number of PCs and there are more spaces where you can plug in and use your own mobile device.
