Academic Registry

Academic Registry uphold policy and processes concerning student administration and manage key corporate events including Enrolment, Examinations and Graduation.

Academic Registrar - Mike Ratcliffe 

Responsible for the overall management of the Academic Registry. This department is both the Business Lead and the Sponsor for various projects across the University.

Student Records

This team have ownership of the Banner Student Records system and are responsible for all related data quality. We plan and deliver the annual enrolment event and online enrolment for all students across the University. We work closely with Schools, Colleges and other professional services to write, develop and maintain administrative processes and procedures to maintain data quality within Banner and associated systems. In addition, this team are also responsible for the Higher Education Achievment Record (HEAR) and HEDD verification system, Council Tax reporting, E-Arch processing, Course Start Dates and Police Requests.

Timetabling 

This team has operational responsibility for day-to-day management of the Timetabling System, monitoring data quality, Timetabling COGNOS reporting and adherence to the Timetabling Procedure and Guidelines document. We work closely with College Timetabling Teams to ensure smooth running of timetabling procedures, training, sharing of best practice and technical assistance in liaison with Timetabling System supplier and other key professional services.
This team also holds the responsibility for completing scheduling of main exams periods for half year and summer examinations with the Academic Registry Examinations Team.

Examinations 

This team are responsible for the central co-ordination of administration for the delivery of Half Year, Main and Resit examinations, working closely with the Academic Registry Timetabling team. We work closely with the Schools to ensure students with Personal Exam Plans (PEPs) have their provisions in place for the necessary assessments. In addition, the team also administers approximately 300 examinations per year outside of these periods at the request of the Schools as well as managing the development, training and appointment of a pool of approximately 170 Invigilation staff.

Graduation 

The team manages the end-to-end process for the University's graduation ceremonies taking place in Summer and Winter from planning attendance and managing ticket sales, through to production of the ceremonial brochures and event management on the day. We create and produce over 8,000 certificates per year for both NTU and collaborative partnerships across the globe.

Policy & Regulations 


This team are responsible for regulations, compliance and governance. The main areas of work: Academic Appeals and Irregularities, Student Complaints. Points Based Immigration and Tier 4 Compliance. We have overall responsibility for regulations pertaining to the Notification of Exceptional Circumstances, Academic Appeals (including Requests for Reconsideration), Academic Irregularities and Student Complaints as well as Tier 4 related processes and procedures.
The Tier 4 staff are the first point of contact for all Tier 4 related queries and are the main liaison between the University and the UKVI (UK Visas & Immigration). We have overall responsibility for compliance with the UKVI regulations for managing Tier 4 students and design, implement and manage all Tier 4 policies and procedures in order to safeguard the University's 'Tier 4 Sponsor Status'.
