Turn your bright ideas into a bright future
The Hive is the University's purpose-built Centre for Entrepreneurship and Enterprise. It's based in the Maudslay building on the City Campus, and they also have access to facilities on Clifton and Brackenhurst Campuses.
The Hive's aim is to provide NTU students and graduates who have a good business idea with support and knowledge to make it a reality, having successfully done so since 2001, with 70% of those start-ups still in business now.
The support offered includes a multitude of training programs, business guidance through personal mentors, and general advice through both staff and other like-minded students.
Examples of the training programs available:
- HeadStart is a twice-yearly program designed to shape the business concept and streamline it into a feasible business plan.
- SmarTrak is the longest of the programs, generally used to help foster this business plan and knowledge into an actual business. The program offers mentoring and Hive support for three years, allowing new businesses the best chance to get off the ground and flourish in the real world.
- There are also a number of social enterprise led programs by the Enactus and UnLtd schemes, giving those who are less interested in the money side of things the opportunity to get involved in business with a social purpose.
