Stay healthy

It’s important to look after your health while you are at university.

Eat well

A good balanced diet, including plenty of fruit and vegetables, will help you stay fit and well and help fight off any illnesses. Look out for the market stalls on campus, making getting your 5-a-day even easier.

Drink lots

Staying hydrated can help you feel better and improve your concentration. It is recommended that you drink six to eight glasses of water a day.

Stay active

Regular physical exercise is key to staying fit and healthy at university. You don't need to be a sport fan to get exercise, here are some simple ways to stay active:

  • Get off the bus or tram one stop early and walk the rest of the way.
  • Use the stairs instead of the lift.
  • Try doing a few gentle exercises while watching television.
  • Walk briskly for 30 minutes, five times a week.

Sports and fitness

Make the most of the sporting facilities at NTU. Our fitness suites, exercise classes, football and netball leagues, and sports clubs mean there are plenty of opportunities to stay active whether you are a serious athlete or just enjoy playing sport or keeping fit.

Health centres

It's important to register with a local doctor while you are studying so that you can get medical help and advice quickly and easily. We have medical centres based on our City Campus and Clifton Campus and a medical practice near to the Brackenhurst Campus.
